Paula Cole Sarasota Concert reviews
Great bands, Venue left a lot to be desired
The venue, however, was not great. The bands were great. It was difficult to move – over sold, and it seemed. The crowding on the steps combined with near the bathrooms and every possible bottle neck, a staff that was spread very thin made for a hostile crowd. Thankfully none of them escalated but this was by luck, not design, staff was not around for any of these incidents. I personally saw two punches thrown by frustrated concert goers, one wrestling match on the floor with two drunks where my friends wife got hit by one of their feet, and three almost fights that were diffused by other concert goers. Less tickets sold and more staff would have made for an excellent experience, as it was, I can only give two stars, and one was for the bands. While I would applaud Levels on the one hand for having metal/rock in State College, Pa. which hasn't happened in years, I don't think they handled it very well. One other structural note, the club has a staircase with an open edge with a drop off over a few feet, while the other side had a rudimentary handrail, it is amazing with overcrowding and slippery floors that nobody fell over the edge.
